About D'Groove
D’Groove is a truly versatile party band. In its standard configuration, D’Groove is a seven-piece band featuring a standard four-piece rhythm section, Bay Area favorites Cindy Mestre and Jannel Candelaria as female vocalists, and the smooth and soulful award-winning Darryl Powell as male vocalist. Their soulful singing is combined with irresistible rhythms and fresh-rap-breaks showcasing their exciting power, range, and versatility – ensuring a night of high caliber entertainment and non-stop dancing. The band’s youthful front line and mature back line, and cultural diversity easily relates to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Established for more than a decade, D’Groove’s simple concept of playing the latest dance tunes, most heartfelt ballads, classic old school, and favorite standards assures a good time for all. D’Groove has twelve full-time members (not including guest performers such famed Juan Escovedo on Percussion and April Key as female lead vocals). The full time members include 3 featured vocalists, a complete 3-piece horn section, two professional sound engineers and a mobile DJ that commonly travels with their professional cordless microphone PA system and lighting solutions. All the members rehearse regularly in Berkeley - in order to keep their medleys and special requests sharp and current. Make an appointment to come out and privately screen the band - or call for their current schedule to see them in a live event setting. The band is available in several configurations including a 4-piece Jazz Quartet, 4-piece Rock Combo, 6-piece R&B Combo and 7-piece Variety Combo. Additional musicians, DJs, special guest performers play with the band from time to time or are added based on the needs of your event.
